He was born on February 24, 2000, in São Paulo, Brazil, and started his football career at the age of ten in the youth academy of the famous São Paulo Futebol Clube. After rising through the junior ranks, he had a chance to impress with the senior team during the pre-season of the 2018 J League Challenge in Japan and made an impression by being voted Player of the Tournament.
On 15 November 2018, Tony made his first competitive debut for São Paulo in a 1–1, draw against rivals Gremio. In the 2018 Campeonato Brasileiro Série A season, Tony only made three appearances, but the following season he set the flanks on fire, boasting 29 times with 4 goals and 6 assists.
