Frank Warren’s attempt to convince Cristiano Ronaldo to join Arsenal failed
after the Portuguese star shot down the idea.
The boxing promoter sat down with the Al-Nassr striker at the Kingdom Arena in Saudi Arabia.
As the pair looked forward to seeing Antony Joshua take on Otto Wallen in the
main event of the Day of Reckoning show.
Seeing an opportunity to try and tempt Ronaldo to sign for his beloved Gunners, Warne was seen in a video shared by his
Queensbury Promotions telling the camera ‘He’s signing for Arsenal. ‘.
His attempt seemed futile, however, as the 38-year-old immediately roared with
laughter at the suggestion that he would be moving to the Emirates.
Hinting that he has no desire to return to the Premier League with a move to table-
topping Arsenal – despite his friendship with big Gunners supporter Piers Morgan.
Ronaldo is currently enjoying life in the Middle East, and was also seen having an
intimate conversation with Colin McGregor during an event in Saudi Arabia.
Along with Joshua’s fight, the card also featured Deontay Wilder defending his
WBA light heavyweight title against Joseph Parker and Dmitry Byul.
The Portuguese icon is currently on a £177m-a-year contract with Al-Nasser, earning him around £3.4m-a-week.
He has scored 27 goals in 29 games so far this season, taking him past the 50-goal
mark since moving to the club in January last year.
Despite his goals, Ronaldo’s side currently trail Saudi Pro League leaders
Al Hilal by ten points with the season halfway through.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are top of the Premier League table at Christmas for
the second consecutive season after drawing 1-1 with Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.
