10 Dwayne Johnson-approved workout tips to help you get as fit as The Rock
There are fit actors and then, there are extremely fit actors. But then, there is Dwayne Johnson AKA The Rock who’s got a physique that totally justifies the name he’s most commonly known as. The man is a walking beast and when you see him beating the crap out of people in the various blockbuster he so routinely appears in, not even for a second are you not convinced he can do that in real life. Because if there’s one person who defines totally body fitness, it is The Rock – you don’t get those arms, abs, pecs and legs for nothing, after all.
But if you’re thinking that it’s near impossible to get as fit as The Rock, fortunately, that’s not the case. When the man himself has been diligently sharing his workout tips and tricks with all his fans on social media, how can fans of Dwayne Johnson not work towards getting a body as incredible as him, right? Luckily for you, we’ve jotted down all the important tips you need to follow from his daily routine to get fit just like The Rock.
If there’s one thing that every man must know, and know rather well, is how to do a proper pull-up. If done right, not only do pull-ups given you fabulous upper body strength but also train your arms, shoulders, chest, back and core, all at the same time. Start with assisted pull-ups in the beginning and slowly, graduate to proper body-weight ones.
The trick is to continue surprising your body. If you’ve mastered regular lunges (no big deal, BTW), add extra weights on your shoulders in the form of heavy chains to further challenge your body.
Most men ignore training their legs – which is surprising because legs are the largest muscle groups in our body. And there’s no better machine to train your legs than the leg press, provided you’re hitting heavy with the weights. For a more intense workout, just like The Rock, you can alternate with your legs while pressing – it’s a killer but you’ll certainly get legs of steel.
You don’t become The Rock without training every single muscle in your body. Get that gluteus maximus working with some weighted glute thrusts – it takes buns of steel to pull it off.
Once in a while, it’s good to give those weights a rest and use your own body weight to perform compound exercises. Not only do these help burn calories effectively but also help you muscle tone – that’s two birds killed with one stone.
After all, you’ve got to lift some to gain some, right? Go heavy or go home – The Rock ain’t got no time for anything else and so shouldn’t you.
Just like all good things, even a good physique is built with consistent hard work. You’ve got to train 4-5 times a week for sure and make sure to work out all body parts and work up the reps and weights with time.
If you’ve worked out well, you deserve a reward. Having a cheat meal not only motivates you to train harder but keeps those cravings in check, ensuring you don’t binge eat at any point in time.
We all have busy schedules – if not as busy as The Rock – and skipping the gym can get tempting. But then, it’s in such times that sticking to your fitness regimen becomes even more important. If you don’t have time to rock up the gym, put on your trainers and go for a walk – it’s the simplest way to burn some calories and you can do it anytime, anywhere.
Recuperation is the foundation for any good physique. If you want to look like Dwayne Johnson, take cue from his routine and ensure you’re getting proper time for rest and recovery for your muscles as well.
